Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reviewed ongoing infrastructure development at the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), where the state government is working to establish India’s first Semicon City backed by world-class smart infrastructure and renewable energy integration.

During his visit, the Chief Minister assessed progress on the Dholera Smart City project, which is being developed under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Officials briefed him on the completion of key infrastructure components, including roads, underground utilities, and plug-and-play industrial facilities. The project incorporates robust sustainability measures, with a 300 MW solar park already operational to power the region’s energy needs. Additionally, essential facilities such as a water treatment plant, sewage and effluent treatment systems, and ICT infrastructure have been completed.

Patel also reviewed the progress of the Tata Electronics semiconductor plant being constructed in Dholera, a major step in building a domestic semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. Both national and international chipmakers are in the process of establishing units in the region, positioning Dholera as a strategic industrial and technology hub.

Infrastructure to support this industrial growth is rapidly advancing. Officials reported that 95 percent of work on the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway is complete. The CM also visited the site of the Dholera International Airport to assess the ongoing construction of the terminal, cargo building, and runway—developed at an estimated cost of ₹1,350 crore. Additional developments include the Bhimnath-Dholera freight railway line, a 192-bed hospital, a school, a fire station, and residential amenities for investors and workers.

Ambrish Parajiya, Managing Director of GAP Group, stated that Dholera is set to become one of the most dynamic industrial clusters in India. “With our world-class township project, we aim to match the region’s industrial momentum with high-quality living and commercial spaces,” he said.

The review marks a significant step forward in Gujarat’s efforts to promote sustainable industrialization through renewable energy integration and high-tech manufacturing.
